QuizTalk begins at the preliminary level, where all participating schools take part in the Regional 'Brilla' STEM Assessment, a standardized exam designed to test students' understanding and application of core STEM concepts.
Following the exam, teams are required to participate in an Innovative STEM Idea Challenge, where they present a creative and practical STEM-based solution to a real-world problem. Each team must not only explain their idea but also provide a basic simulation, demonstration, or model to enhance understanding and showcase the feasibility of their concept.
Schools are encouraged to keep their solutions simple, innovative, and achievable within their means, focusing on creativity and relevance rather than complexity.
Throughout this phase, scores from both the STEM examination and the project presentation are combined to determine overall performance. At the end of the preliminaries, the top 27 highest-scoring schools across all regions will advance to the prestigious national level of the competition, where they will compete for the ultimate QuizTalk title.
Schools that reach the finals will have a seeding right to seed at the quarter-final. stage of the national contest for the following season. The utlimate winner with the best project idea wins a seed fund worth $10,000.00 (USD) to pitch the idea to prospective investors. Other amazing prizes include free shopping vouchers, exclusive bragging rights, ONE MONTH of full media publicity, and a short trip to the Ministry of Science and Technology.
There are four (4) rounds in the national contest.
